Tomorrow’s Stream for top 8 – Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off on MK9 Top 8 From Summer Jam 6

Summer Jam & MLG Weekend is upon us.

This is another huge weekend for MK. Well over 150 people are likely to be playing MK competitively over the course of this weekend at two different locations on a few hundred miles apart on the east coast of the US. Dreams will be made, and broken. Respect your TOs, and respect the other players. See you at SJ, and good luck those I won’t see at MLG! Let’s see another KombatNetwork win at MLG! Good luck to Crazy Dominican and Perfect Legend as they represent us hard!

We should be streaming Summer Jam by noon Saturday at twitch.tv/kombatnetwork. Expect MK9, UMK3 and MKII to be seen on stream over the course of the day. We will look to use Challonge as a real time update of brackets for people at home to see, in addition to using TIO on location for running the actual tournament. Pools have not be decided yet, in terms of numbers, because we do not have a full list of players. The link for Challonge will be posted once brackets are completed.

The likely breakdown examples will be 4 pools for 32 or more, 8 pools for 64 or more,  and if there are 57 players, for example, it will be 15, 14, 14, 14 with byes in place. We’re trying for no less than 8 players per pool, no more than 16. If the turnout happens to be less than 32, it will be likely done in one large bracket, divided into what are actually, mini pools (hot tubs?) within the single pool itself.

We can’t make a time frame for pools until we know how many players there are and the total is extremely unpredictable right now.

That’s all for now, look for updates to come directly from testyourmight.com and later results posted here.

Thanks to everyone who helps out at this event, as staff will be short for MK due to various factors, for what may or may be more than we can handle.

Summer Jam Stream info

Kombat Network will be streaming MK9 at Summer Jam 6 barring any connection issues on our usual stream channel, www.twitch.tv/kombatnetwork or click the stream link in the navigation on this site. The current plan is to stream via Verizon 4G provided by “Dawson.”

There will be an 11 AM start for casuals in the MK room, which is usually the first open room to the left of the elevators when you walk into the hotel. Remember to register for the event and MK9 at the door, UMK3 and MKII will have sign up in the MK room.

There is a tentative 12 PM stream start time for casuals, and since we’ll have access to the room Friday night and be able to set everything up this should hold up. Pools will likely start between 3 and 4, more likely 4 as we’ll do last minute sign ups until 3 PM and make pools during that hour. Stream will go in the neighborhood of 12 hours if possible, with potential breaks in the middle. Again, please remember we are doing this via 4G, which we’ve done before with great success. This hotel seemed to have good 4G coverage.

We are planning to run all MK tournaments on Saturday since Summoning and I (Shock) have to leave Sunday at check out due to a personal engagement. There is a chance that Big E will want to stream MK9 top 4 or 8 on Team Spooky Stream Sunday afternoon, and if so I will oblige this request. If in the event that happens, we will run more stream matches for MK9 and more of UMK3 and MKII earlier round brackets for those tournaments.

Also remember that there will be limited MK9 setups available Sunday, so players, please bring extra setups and I will talk to Big E about securing some tables for Sunday. If we run the entire MK9 tournament on Saturday, we may break for MKII/UMK3 Winners, Losers, Grand Finals before MK9 top 8. If any time remains, we will stream more casuals for MK9 following the tournament.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend! Again, good luck to all players attending MLG, take home some big $$$.
