KombatNetwork welcomes OBS Jkun Prime to the family!

An avid and dedicated tournament goer, Green Lantern player, and outspoken member of the community, Jkun Prime is now an aspiring staff member and representative of KombatNetwork. Like several other members we have recruited as of late, he has joined KN of his own volition to help develop the brand. We look forward to developing a close relationship with Jkun and finding the perfect place in our family for him!

What an Evo weekend!

Holy crap! So much went on it’s too much to even get started. Let’s keep it simple:

Super congratulations to CD Jr, and thank you to RM, for helping KN get him to Evo so he could claim his rightful place as the King of Killer Instinct. This was his dream and he achieved it in grand fashion outlasting 300 competitors:

Next comes Sonic Fox who double dipped and double dipped some more, coming 1 match shy of two 6 win streaks in his grand finals sets. What Grand Finals? Oh let’s just say Injustice and the community driven bonus prize loaded Mortal Kombat tournaments! This kid is a phenom! Injustice had around 300 entrants and MK, though only advertised by word of mouth, pulled in over 64 players and had a total cash prize $2600 with a top 8 payout!

For more information, head on over to testyourmight.com

CD Jr wins KI

Sonic Fox wins Injustice

Sonic Fox wins Mortal Kombat 9

Congrats to amazing performances by all players and let’s keep the hype train rolling to the future for the NRS community!

EVO on the Horizon; “Who u like?”

What’s up kombatants? With Evolution 2014 around the corner, I decided to start a prediction, upset and expectation post.

download (2)

Injustice should be very interesting this year. The game has changed a LOT since KDZ’s cheesy victory last year (love you Phil :p)

Notable players:

How do we ignore last year’s champion KDZ? While Superman has been toned down a bit, he is still an extremely strong character and KDZ’s fundamental talent in all fighting games makes him a consistent threat. While we’re on the topic of Superman, you have to mention Socal’s own, Slayer. He is probably the most offensive Superman player, and unless he’s under the influence of something, his reactions are really sharp.

Two underdogs/online heroes of merit are the Commandeur brothers, Tim and Matt, aka Kaotik Honeybee and Khaotik Biohazard. Honeybee has shown everyone that he is one of the best Flash players with his top 8 finishes at ECT 2014 and Toryuken 2014. His brother, Biohazard is less known on the major scale, but on par with the best Banes like Grrr and GGA’s Max.

Let’s look at the midwest for a minute: 16Bit just had that top 8 finish at MLG Anaheim, but I haven’t really seen a lot from the rest of them on a major scale. They’ve got Max the Bane player, and a million Doomsdays. There’s Foreverking, P2W and a couple killers out there in the midwest but it seems the coasts are pretty dominant.

Doomsdays: We have to acknowledge Whiteboi for getting top 8 at MLG Anaheim, PL has a doomie, AK’s Saltface has been playing him recently, Florida’s Noobe, and there are a couple others out there that have the ability to perform.

Moving on to the west coast: Theo, who is arguably “…the best Injustice player in the world right now.” I heard trident rush was pretty good. There’s Tyrant, the best Grundy. There’s Nubcakes, an amazing batman. There’s filipinoman with Dirty Diana, Chef with his lame lantern and aquaman, and a strong player base. We have to acknowledge Ducky and Cowboy too. Two young guys that have a bright future in the community.  I just like how they play the game.

Now lets see the northeast: SonicFox just won CEO, Rico is probably going to be focusing mostly on KI but is strong in everything he plays as he just got top 16 I believe in USF4 with Abel. Dartharma is making a case for the best Batman in the world, and Jupiter is undoubtedly the best Manhunter. Does REO play this game anymore?

Let’s not forget Denzell and Malik out there in Vegas, and AK killers like Pig, Harold and Glass Sword.

Who do you think will make top 8? Who’s going to win?

Personally, I think it’s going to be between two players: Jupiter and Theo. Theo’s patience and reads are unreal, while Jupiter’s spacing and creativity in gameplay separate him from the rest.

I’m totally biased here: GO EAST COAST

Comment with your top 8’s, underdogs, etc

Thanks for reading
