It probably seems like every six months or so we mention a certain someone who is no longer in the community with us in the physical. That’s because on February 16th, 2006 we lost one of the true, original pioneers of the competitive MK scene for the FGC, and his birthday is September 28th, a little more than halfway through a calendar of days later. Ryan Thomas Hutnick will be forever remembered by me (Shock) and those he inspired, regardless if they met him or not. Many people don’t get what the FGC is about, or even understand why others are so passionate about it. There’s a certain connection or bond made by the players that really can’t be compared to many other things.
If anyone ever wonders what Ryan’s personality was like, watch some of James Rolfe’s AVGN (www.cinemassacre.com) episodes or reviews where he is calm and articulate, and isn’t cursing or screaming about old games. He is pretty much a carbon copy of Ryan’s demeanor, even similar speech.
